PROJECT
Chug and Thug Site
CLIENT

About the Project
Mumin Media CEO, Gemal Seede, wanted to create the website for his children’s book series: “Chug and Thug”, also illustrated by me. It resulted in a central platform to promote the fun adventures of two adorable brother bugs and the life lessons they learn. The site provided a comprehensive portal connecting users to the bookstore, news, downloads, and events.

Challenges
- Designing an interface that balances the playful, engaging visuals required for a children’s book with the essential educational message of the series.
- Clearly categorize the book themes—such as #1 Mindfulness and #2 Resisting Peer Pressure—while ensuring visibility for multiple titles, pre-orders, and a video preview.
- The need to structure the site to appeal equally to children (Keelyn H., 8 years old) and purchasing parents (Ali L.).

Solution
- A navigation system that clearly organizes ancillary content like Events and Downloads, alongside core product pages, was implemented.
- The compilation of social proof immediately on the homepage, highlighting FIVE-STAR ratings from IndieReader and testimonials from parents.
- A dedicated Events page that clearly lists upcoming author signings and readings in places like Indigo and Al Hijra Academy, promoting real-world interaction and sales.

Outcomes
- The website successfully positioned the series as a source of valuable lessons for children around the world, enhancing its reputation.
- It has driven user engagement by prominently featuring the ability to pre-order new titles like Scary Movie and by prompting users to join the mailing list.
- By showcasing events and reviews, the design has effectively strengthened the series’s credibility and market presence, translating critical acclaim into accessibility.
