PROJECT
Virtual Courses for Teachers
CLIENT

About the Project
The “Directorate of Teacher Training in Service” from the Ministry of Education of Perú required a web interface redesign for the virtual courses training for teachers at the secondary education level.
The work below represents the effort made to get these virtual courses ready with all the requirements from the client.

Challenges
- The educational platform used by the teachers was outdated at that time, both in terms of content and visuals.
- It needed a fresh look, something more appealing, and interesting to read and follow.
- Also, the photos used on the old platform were low-resolution ones, and visually, the courses were so different from one another, creating several unprofessional-looking graphic styles.

Solution
- In order to align all the courses’ visuals, it was necessary to define the styles: typography and colors, right from the start.
- It was requested a text reduction, to avoid the boring content. This helped a lot with the new proposed interface and navigation.
- Finally, to make these courses friendlier than before, a group of character illustrations was created to accompany teachers on the different courses they signed up for.
Courses Style Guide
The main design guidelines for the courses interface: the primary and secondary colors palette for the different programs, the typography, text sizes, and the icons used in all the screens, were proposed in advance to the client. Following is the approved style:

The Courses Modules
Each virtual course module was created following the design guidelines, focusing on the clarity not only of the information but also the one for the interface, navigation, and interaction of the characters (hosts) with the viewer, in the different scenarios like content explanations, dialogs between the characters, and requested exercises.

Outcomes
- Differentiated by the color palette, each educational course level was easy to follow and recognize.
- The new interface made the teachers eager to learn and complete the whole pack of courses.
- The character design introduced in all the courses managed to make the learning process a more enjoyable experience.
